Galeria Katowicka’s side wall is now home to an unusual mural prepared for “The Enrooted” project. It is going to serve as a background for a unique air-dance performance.
The mural is inspired by the natural wealth of Silesia and local legends. The key motif is the integration of Silesian cities and towns that can form a single entity with extreme creative power, typified by a tree with very strong intertwined roots. The author is Raspazjan, one of Silesia’s most original and popular street artists.
“The Enrooted” is an extreme theater performance in which the dancers have the ground taken away from them. Suspended on ropes, a dozen or so meters in the air, they will resort to the vertical dancing technique. On September 19, at 8 p.m., their dance routine and acrobatics will make a clear reference to the story ingrained in the mural.
The show will take place at Galeria Katowicka’s wall at 3 Maja 38 (in the courtyard, next to Biała Małpa pub).
A popular artist, Rufus, will offer a videomapping projection. One of Poland’s most renowned music producers now, Steve Nash, will be responsible for the musical content.
“The Enrooted” is the product of LINEACT group whose formation resulted from a surprising combination of art forces from various environments. It is made up of Patryk Durski, Katarzyna Gorczyca, Krystian Łysoń, Nina Minor, Jakub Urbański, Raspazjan, Rufus, and Steve Nash. In cooperation with Cinematic Artists, they will offer an unrivalled visual show.
