The meters’ readings are showing ca. 2,000 kilometers.
Bicycles are usually rented by men aged 20-30, couples and people who are over 40. On weekdays, we often rent bikes for three hours after work. At weekends, we tend to take them for the whole day. The most common days are Saturday, Sunday and bank holidays. The number of cyclists rises any time a popular event is held in the city. The most frequently chosen routes run through the Three Ponds Valley, Kościuszko Park and Silesian Park, according to the data compiled by City by Bike.
“Ride & Help” lasts all August. Anyone who rents a bicycle from City by Bike points in Katowice will help kids from Saint Adalbert Community Center as Galeria Katowicka intends to pay PLN 1 for every kilometer. The money will be spent on school supplies for the children.
Bikes with special meters are available at City by Bike spots – at Plac Szewczyka (in front of Galeria Katowicka), at Stanisława 4 in the City of Gardens’ Gallery, and in the Three Ponds Valley of Katowice Forest Park. The bicycle rentals next to Galeria Katowicka and at Stanisława St. are open Monday through Sunday, 12:00-20:00, while the one in Katowice Forest Park operates the same hours from Wednesday to Sunday. Users have to pay PLN 2 for 1 hour, PLN 5 for 3 hours or PLN 10 for the whole day (within the rental point’s opening hours). It is required to present a valid identity document.
