We would like to invite you to the pre-premiere of “A piece of meat” play which will be performed at “Scena w Galerii” [Mall Stage] on Friday, Dec. 18, at 7 p.m.
You can also watch the play as part of weekend performances starting at 4 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday (Dec. 19-20).
Weronika Murek’s play is going to be her theater debut following the Gdynia Drama Award and a much-hyped book, “Growing Southern Plants with Michurin’s Method.” The play has been written specifically for “Scena w Galerii.”
A meat mincer crank is rotating, while a production line is moving. Meat counters are witches stuck in the real world, one that is hidden from human sight. Hucksters can sell pretty much anything. A girl and a boy get lost in the world of ready-made products and ready-to-use sets of personal traits, thinking patterns and packaged opinions.
According to the author, “A Piece of Meat” is grainy like pictures by Bosch or Bruegel. They are made up of a variety of elements and micro-histories which may either get close to or away from each other.
The play will be staged by Robert Talarczyk, the Silesian Theater’s Director. His assistant is Mateusz Znaniecki, actor at the Silesian Theater and student at the Faculty of Radio and Television at the University of Silesia. Ilona Binarsch is responsible for costumes and stage design. The cast includes Alina Chechelska, Bogumiła Murzyńska, Bartłomiej Błaszczyński, Michał Piotrowski, Marcin Szaforz, Zbigniew Wróbel, Maria Baładżanow and Patrycja Myga.
The play forms part of the Silesian Theater’s project named “KatoDebut” which aims at fishing out theatrical talents and allowing students and graduates to make their art vision come to life for the very first time. Young authors get a chance to make a debut in Katowice.
The Silesian Theater’s information and ticket sales desk is open daily from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., next to “Scena w Galerii” (level +2). Showtimes are available at http://gk.y-c.com.pl/wyzszy–poziom/.
