Throughout December we will be hosting lots of special events that are supposed to evoke the Christmas spirit. The first attractions are already waiting for you and the upcoming weekend is about to bring even more of them.
On December 1 we lit up over 16,000 lights on our Christmas tree at Plac Szewczyka. Galeria Katowicka’s tree is over 15 meters high and boasts more than 700 ornaments. Combined with the mall’s Christmas decorations, it creates magical atmosphere in the city center.
Those who like spending their free time in an active manner will definitely enjoy a free-of-charge ice-rink inside Galeria Katowicka, next to the viewing point overlooking Plac Szewczyka (level +2). You can use it Monday through Friday, 2 p.m. – 8 p.m., and at weekends, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The on-site skates rental offers sizes 27-46 for kids and adults.
Starting from Saturday, December 5, children will be able to focus on games, animations and special workshops in the HIGHER LEVEL PROJECT Zone at level +2 while their parents are doing shopping. Babysitting staff will be taking care of kids in Galeria Katowicka’s Christmas Land Monday through Friday, 3 p.m. – 7 p.m., and at weekends, from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Another place featuring Christmas spirit is an area next to Blikle café at level +1. On Saturday, December 5, 1:00-2:30 p.m. and 4:00-5:30 p.m., we will be holding Elves Workshops called “Sing out for Christmas.” Everyone will get a chance to participate in vocal training, sing carols with live music accompaniment, as well as read parts of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.”
We have prepared a range of special attractions for Saint Nicholas’ Day, December 6 (Sunday).
The “Mall Stage” (at level +2) will see “The Enchanted Suitcase” play for kids, performed by learners from the Silesian Theater’s Acting School at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Needless to say, our youngest customers will also get a chance to meet the Santa Claus who will be waiting for them, alongside some elves, between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. in Galeria Katowicka’s Christmas Land (level +2).
Between midday and 7 p.m. (excl. breaks for the theater play) we are going to offer acting classes, “New Ubran Myths,” run by Artur Pałyga, playwright from the Silesian Theater. Children will be creating their own professional plays.
