First aid training, climbing competition and games for kids are just some of the activities prepared by GOPR [Mountain Rescue Services] as part of the “Be Safe” campaign. On Saturday and Sunday, Galeria Katowicka’s customers will learn how to keep safe in a car or become a bone marrow donor.
The GOPR’s campaign aims at promoting safety in many daily situations and during holidays, as well as popularizing first aid knowledge.
GOPR’s statistics serve as a reminder of how important first aid education is. Last year only, Polish mountains saw thousands of interventions and emergency actions. The most common reasons behind accidents include excessive bravery and failure to meet the rules of safe conduct on mountain hiking trails.
This Saturday and Sunday, customers of Galeria Katowicka will get a chance to see shows prepared by GOPR workers, learn how to provide first aid, climb a mobile wall, as well as take part in a knowledge quiz to check their awareness of mountain safety, first aid and vehicle travel safety. Education activities have been designed to attract kids and teenagers, at the same time directing the adults’ attention to highly important safety issues.
As part of the action, you can also sign up with a bone marrow donors registry run by DKMS Foundation. The “Be Safe” action at Galeria Katowicka will take place on Saturday and Sunday (Oct. 25 and 26), between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. The campaign is organized by GOPR. Its partners are TAURON Polska Energia, Mercedes-Benz, PLUS and GORE.
