Not only the aesthetic aspects, but also special occasions such as the Day of the Polish National Flag or the World Autism Awareness Day will influence the colour of the facade illumination. One of the ideas is that the colour could reflect the weather forecast for the next day.
Late on Wednesday evening (4 September), the illumination system of the facade of Galeria Katowicka was tested again. The engineers of the construction works General Contractor checked if the entire installation operates properly, while designers analysed the aesthetics of various colour combinations.
The previous tests were run on a small section, which made it difficult to evaluate the achieved effect in a reliable way. This time the entire facade on the side of Plac Szewczyka square was illuminated,
says Agnieszka Jurkiewicz, Galeria Katowicka Marketing & PR Manager. The colour of the facade illumination will be dictated by both aesthetic and social reasons. For instance, it will be white and red on the Day of the Polish National Flag or blue on the World Autism Awareness Day.
One of the interesting ideas is that the colour could reflect the weather forecast for the next day.
The new railway station hall with the impressive umbrella pillars and the KATOWICE neon sign as well as the redeveloped Plac Szewczyka square are becoming significant places in the city due to their function and location. They also make up the first impressions of the city that the visitors and travellers have. That is why we want to make the facade illumination another, even if small, attraction that will be a distinguishing feature of Katowice, says Agnieszka Jurkiewicz.
The idea is that in the evening before a sunny day the facade will have a yellow illumination, while before a cold and rainy day, it will be dark blue.
Galeria Katowicka will be opened on 18 September 2013 at 10am. The celebration of completing the investment project will take place the day before.
Galeria Katowicka forms a part of the Integrated Transportation, Communication and Office Centre located in the very heart of downtown Katowice. The investors are NEINVER Poland, Meyer Bergman and the Polish State Railways. STRABAG is the General Contractor for construction works, while Cushman & Wakefield is the exclusive agent responsible for lease of commercial space.
